Review - Real Simple's Pet Product Line

Real Simple has launched a pet gear line at Target and we had the chance to review a couple of the products from this great line. With 3 dogs running around, they need their own toys, storage and other gear as well so it was a great opportunity being able to review them.

We received Real Simple LED Light Collar Charms. These are handy little collar charms you slip onto your dog's collar. The charms have 3 settings for the LED light, fast blinking, slow blinking and a steady light. Great for when you're walking your dog during the night. They come in pink, blue and green. Each of the dogs got one, and all you need to do is press down on the charm and just select which LED light is best. No need to take them off, just turn them off. They've been great to have during our nightly walks, very convenient.

The Real Simple Pet Toy Organizer was a very cute surprise. Its made of an easy-to-clean nylon and has handles to conveniently take it anywhere. Its available with a red or blue-striped lining, we got the red. The organizer is gorgeous and big enough (16in x 14.5in x 10in) to let us store the frisbees, chew toys, and even handy for leashes since we keep in next to our patio door.

The Real Simple Silicone Placemat. Our small indoor dog, is quite a messy eater. Apart from that, our flooring makes for spilled water all throughout the day. The silicone placemat is truly a great thing to have for her. All the crumbs and spilled water goes onto the placemat for easy cleaning. Real Simple's pet line for Target is a great deal for any pet owners. A huge thanks to them for letting us review their great products!

Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for this post, however I did receive the product in question,  from the company or their representing  PR company,  free of charge in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own and I have provided a fair and honest review. I received no other compensation for my review nor was I under any obligation to give a positive review.

The Shelter Pet Project Campaign - Why We Adopted & Rescued!

The Shelter Pet Project is a campaign headed by The Ad Council, in partnership with The Humane Society of the United States and Maddie’s Fund. The campaign is aimed at increasing the number of pets that get adopted from shelters and rescue groups versus buying them from pet stores or breeders. It has helped chance the landscape of shelter pet adoption and reduce the euthanasia of shelter pets by 10% since its launch in 2009.  The number of pets being put down dropped from 3 million to 2.7 million, the campaign's goal is to make that number reach 0.

Their television, radio, print, outdoor and web ads focus on shelter pets observing their owners quirky yet loveable behaviors, concluding with the message that, “A person is the best thing to happen to a shelter pet”. All of the ads direct prospective pet owners to a comprehensive website, The Shelter Pet Project, where users are able to search for a pet from a local shelter or rescue group, read adoption success stories and learn valuable information about pet adoption. See the cute video below and check out others on the Shelter Pet Project YouTube page.

My take: I would like to see the Shelter Pet Project reach their goal, moreover, see others helping the cause. There are many people that don't understand that the pet overpopulation is a tragic problem, there are over 2.7 million pets being euthanized at pet shelters yearly, and those are only the ones accounted for. There are people who let these pups go free on the street before they are even weened because of the time, effort and cost of keeping them after their dog got pregnant, most likely "on accident". Others that add to the problem are back-yard breeders who sell dogs.

I have 3 dogs, two of which I adopted and 1 which I rescued from someone who was literally just going to drop her off on a sidewalk. She was only 2 weeks old and a little bigger than my hand. One of my adopted dogs was 1 1/2 years old when I got him. He is the sweetest dog and he lights up when he sees me. I could tell by his way of being that he came from an abusive family but with all the love that me and my family have shown him, he has become much friendlier and very loyal. He is now a little over 3 years old and earlier this year we went through the horror of him being stolen. A week went by and I couldn't sleep, as I was in tears worrying about him, wondering what horrific things they could be doing to him. The feeling and experience were horrible. It affected us very much.

At that time we decided to adopt another dog. He was about 2 months old when we got him, a baby the size of my 1st dog. We thankfully got the call from a dog rescue about 10miles away saying someone dropped of my dog that was stolen. Ever since then, he and the baby of the house have been inseparable. These dogs are my life, they are part of our family and we wouldn't be one without them. It hurts my heart that people let dogs that deserve love and care in shelters die. The feeling of walking through the shelters knowing that these dogs won't probably leave anytime soon (and might die that same day) is heart-breaking. The Pet Shelter Project is doing a great deed bringing to light the reality of things. Our pet overpopulation won't end soon, the choice you make when you bring a pet into your family will. Shelter and rescue dogs are the way to go, make their day and they will make yours.

Siberian Huskies & Their Brotherly Affection

My furry babies are silly! I don't know why they act like they don't love each other sometimes, lol. I caught them showing some brotherly affection :) In all truth, they can't stay away from each other. I try to take a picture of one alone, the other has to come by and bomb the photo. Both my boys are Siberian Huskies (the lighter colored one is mixed with German Shepherd) and they both adore howling along with the train and police and ambulance sirens. They are ALWAYS together, its hard to take one on a walk alone because the other will whine so loud you can hear it 3 blocks down, that is no over exaggeration either.

When I first got my younger puppy (he is at 5 months old in the picture) I was worried my older dog wouldn't like him and they wouldn't get along, but I'm glad they do. They love each other as if they were blood brothers, such cuties. You can't imagine how many compliments they get, they are the hunks of the neighborhood lol. Time flies by too fast, I miss when I got to hold my puppy and sleep with him on the couch AND when he still looked like this:

My furry babies are just too cute! :) My 3rd furry baby is an indoor dog, so she is spoiled!

My Little Men! My Loves!

Remember when I posted about our dog being stolen last march? And how we got a new puppy? And how AVID found out stolen dog a few weeks later? I hope so :)  When I got Spock, my black & white Siberian Husky boy with piercing blue eyes, he was only 4 weeks old. Now, Spock is huge! He is only 5 months old and has grown so much! He is almost bigger than my other furry boy seen in the picture above, and he is already 3 y/o.

Its amazing how fast they grow and how they develop their personalities. He is certainly a leader, loves people and kids especially. His hobbies include his stuffed squeaky toy we bought him when he came home, howling with the police and ambulance sirens and picking weeds from the back yard (which you can see is all dirt and rocks). I couldn't resist taking pictures of them yesterday, I was outside all afternoon/night long. The heat was horrible, 97 degrees, no wind, humid air. I'm just thankful it cooled down when the sun went away to shine elsewhere in the world!

Want to compare his size? Look at his pictures here from his first day at our home :) Warning: Might be too cute to handle!

Long Weekend & Big Hairy Tails!

Its a long weekend and all I know for sure is that I'll be hitting up Target for the Pedigree Dog Food gift card deal! My little Spock (Black & White) is eating like a monster! He is a growing puppy and its funny comparing pictures of him now and when we got him in March. His face is so much bigger, he is longer, fatter (well-fed) and his tail is bigger. I'm sure his tail is going to be as fluffy and big as my other furry Husky. Its so big it actually hurts when he wags his tail and it hits you lol. :) See him above? Let me know how it feels when you get smacked in the face with a big tall like that haha! The third little doggie is my only girl, already 2 y/o now. :) They are the cutest things ever!

Woohoo! Its going to be a nice LONG weekend! Whether you're stuffing yourself with hot dogs (wish I could be) or just relaxing at home, I hope you all enjoy it! I don't know what I'll be doing yet, but if all else fails, a WHOLE weekend just resting at home would be much needed. I have slept less than 4-5 hours a day this past week and with school and getting in a little over an hour of exercise each day, I've just been exhausted.

Rachael Ray's Nutrish Just 6 Dog Food - FREE SAMPLES

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Nutrish for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Nutrish Student Saving Bucks
I have 3 dogs, so feeding them all is no easy task. I was sent a sample of Rachael Ray's Nutrish Just 6 Dog Food with an adorable little dog bowl (which now belongs to my youngest fur baby, see him above?) Unfortunately, since he is only 3 1/2 months old, he can't have any, its the Lamb Meal & Brown Rice recipe for adult dogs. Now, I personally couldn't taste test this, but my 3 y/o Siberian Husky / German Shepherd did.

My big boy is a picky eater, as is the second oldest, the baby, not so much. As soon as the food hit the floor he practically inhaled it. He looks really funny in the first picture below because just a millisecond after, he dove right in. Rachel Ray's Just 6 Dog Food contains no corn, wheat or soy, which the majority of big brand-name foods do. The number one ingredient is Lamb Meal and it also contains added vitamins to keep him healthy.

Rachael Ray's Nutrish Just 6 Dog Food is available in 8 and 16lb. bags. They are having a GREAT promotion right now for all of you dog-owners! They are giving way a free sample of Rachael Ray's Nutrish Just 6 Dog Food! Just click on "Switch to Nutrish" and get yours now!

Having Fun In The Sun!

Spring is FINALLY here! I love the warm days and cool breezy nights, its just very calming to me. It wasn't long ago that i was complaining about how I missed Spring because it was still very cold and raining often. Well, thats over with already.

I'm not the only one exited, all three of my doggy babies were! They enjoyed their play time in the backyard today. The weather was so nice we all ended up going out there for a good couple of hours. I just wish we had the means to fix up our backyard, something as simple as a cement slab and some grass is like a dream to us! We would be out there 24/7 during Spring and Summer if we did.

I'm so glad we got our biggest baby back too! He keeps the puppy, Spock, in check. Its good that they are the same breed (well, my big boy is only half Siberian Husky). Its so cute how he starts to howl when his big brother does, and follows him around. When we brought our new puppy home, he was the same height as our girl (shes the brown one in the picture), he is now at least twice her size now, in only a month! He sure is growing fast.

I hope all of you guys are enjoying the wonderful Spring weather too!

Welcome Home! Thank You AVID!

Today I got a call from AVID, the company which my stolen dog was registered with via microchip. I thought they were going to ask me if I had sent it the paper to transfer ownership (long story) but was ecstatic when I heard the representative say "Your dog has been recovered...". They immediately gave me the woman's name and number and I called.

Half an hour later I was picking him up at her house (she runs a dog rescue) about 30min. away from my house. The people that stole him most likely took him to breed but dumped him when they noticed he was neutered. As soon as we got out of the car we saw him and he was barking, whining and howling like crazy. He was so happy to see his family there.

I highly suggest all pet owners microchip their pets and register them. The microchip is the only reason I was able to get him back. When he got home, after his delicious meal, he played with our other little dog and finally met his new little brother, Spock. As soon as Spock is older he'll be able to roam the backyard with his big brother. Having 3 dogs sure is time consuming and a HUGE responsibility, but we couldn't be happier. I'm glad there are good people with pure hearts around. We are glad he is home where he belongs.

Thank you AVID and everyone who kept us in their hopes and prayers.

Feed your dog, for FREE!

Having a dog, to me, is like having a child. You have to feed them, make sure they have a roof over their head, keep them warm, bath them, pamper them once in a while and love them. When i started couponing I had no idea I would be able to get FREE DOG FOOD. I was amazed at my first pet-haul. I have 3 adorable furry babies that hold a very dear place in my heart, and being a College student paying my own way, Its a blessing to be able to get free dog food for them.

I've been able to build and keep a pretty well stocked Dog-Pantry. In it i have a whole bunch of Cesars Chewy Treats, Purina One 6oz. Bags, both of which I got for free at Target with coupons. I also have a whole bunch of treats which I have gotten at clearance price or cheap with coupons. And, from the video below, you can see how one of my babies absolutely loves those Cesar's Chewy Treats!
A lot of my friends ask how I can feed my dogs when I have so much expenses with college, and I let them in on it. I have shared coupons and deals with them as well, and they pass it on to their friends and so on.

Do you guys want to start a Dog Pantry? To help you out, come by Monday 11/01, I will be giving away 20 $2/1 Purina coupons which you can use to buy (20) Purina One 6oz. bags of dry dog food for FREE! Start it off!

Tiny "Paw"licious Spotlight

So, I've been giving my big Siberian Husky all the spotlight in the reviews, lol. This is my other baby, Kimchi. I've had this cutie since she was 2 weeks old. Poor thing could have been left on the street alone, but I took her in and gave her all my love. She just turned 1 year old this year in May. I got my Husky from a lady who couldn't handle him, she had previously gotten him from a shelter. I honestly feel blessed to have helped my poor babies, who knows what could have happened to them if i didn't take them in. She did the funniest thing yesterday, she went into our dog stockpile and stole a whole bag of Dentastix!

The only unfortunate thing is that she is destructive sometimes. Yesterday she chewed through the wires of my sisters speakers... which i had let her BORROW :(  I'm hoping I can rid her of this habit. If i could list things shes ruined, you'd be here for a while. Lets just say shes gone through a lot of doggy beds. Wondering if any of you have this problem and what you've done to help correct it?

Review - Hartz Dog Treats

I'm very grateful for all the great dog deals lately. They allow my current ongoing stockpile for dogs to grow. After seeing that Hartz had dog treats, I was interested in reviewing. I contacted Hartz for a review, and thanks to Chenier, I was sent Hartz Crunch N' Clean Dog Biscuits.

Crunch N' Clean Dog Biscuits in Savory Flavors is a new addition to their Crunch N' Clean line of dog biscuits. The three flavors included in the new Savory Flavors are Braised Beef, Rotisserie Chicken, and Smokehouse Bacon. Hartz Crunch 'n Clean Biscuits are the only dog biscuits with Dentashield proven to reduce tartar formation. How great is that? A yummy treat for your dog that is great for them.

On their website, Hartz states, "...In fact, just 2 yummy Crunch 'n Clean biscuits twice a day won’t just make his tail wag faster, they’ll fight tartar before it’s a problem".
When i received the treats, i couldn't tell which was which but my dog loved them. I love the fact that they are very thick. I put a couple in his kong toy, a dog toy in which they have to work to get their treats. It keeps them occupied. The pieces were big, but fit in his toy very well. My two smaller dogs (both less than 10lb.) had a hard time even getting the treat into their little mouths. The box says its for all size dogs, but was a no go with my little ones. Overall, I'm happy that these treats will help prevent tartar and freshens his breath. Thanks again to Hartz for the opportunity to review. :)

Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for this post, however I did receive the product in question to review. All opinions are my own and I have provided a fair and honest review. I received no other compensation for my review nor was I under any obligation to give a positive review.

Pet Treats & Food; Stock It Up!

If you have pets, you probably buy pet food in bulk. But, when its gone, and you can't go out and buy some right that minute (or even week), its a problem. This has happened to me a couple times already. I don't like to feed them "human" food (raw meat and dry & wet dog food only). I have 3 dogs and i'm super busy. I use to buy in bulk and when it was gone, I was stuck feeding them what i didn't want to. I had absolutely NO time to go buy any food for them.

At the end of last year, when i really started getting into couponing, i thought about stocking up pet treats and dog food for them. Great pet deals & coupons come and go and I've been planning to stockpile for them. Its a wonderful thing to have food and treats available for them when they run out and you're busy. So, if any of you have a similar problem, stockpile! So far, we have 14 Purina One 6oz Bags, 13 Cesar Treats, 2 Bags of Dentastix, Might Dog & Pedigree Wet Food, and a whole bunch of other dog food treats plus the main 60lb bag of dry dog food.

There are great Cesar Treats that will be FREE after coupons, and my adorable doggies love them! If you don't have both coupons to stack, you can try looking into any clipping service or ebay.
Here are other great Stockpiling deals for Dogs this week:

Cesar Treats $2.99 (Regular Price at Target)
-Use $1/1 Cesar Treats (x8/30) Target Coupon from 5/16 SS
-Pair with $2/1 Cesar Treats Manufacturer Coupon from 8/8 RP
Total: FREE

Purina One Dog Food (6oz. Bag)
-$Free (1)  6oz. Package of Purina One Brand Dry Dog or Cat Food Coupon from 8/15 SS
Total: FREE *There will also be a $2/1 Purina One Dog or Cat Food coupon in the 8/15 SS that states, "any size/variety". Meaning, you can use them for the 6oz. Bag too! Other stores that carry this size bag are Walgreens, Walmart and Petsmart.

These are great stockpiling items :) All 3 of my doggies love them, so I'm sure your dogs would too :). P.S. Isn't he absolutely gorgeous? He is one handsome Siberian Husky!
