Lights, Camera, Action! College Must Have: Digital Recorders

Lights, Camera, Action! There are so many great digital recording gadgets out there. I previously had to use my phone to record lectures, and it didn't work out too well. My phone would die very quickly because i had Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled while recording in class. Ultimately, its not a good idea to use a cell phone. I actually bought a digital voice recorder from Sony for the new fall semester. I can't always retain everything from my classes in my brain, and don't have a great memory.

I honestly do think ALL college students should own a digital recorder, we've all come across those days with hangovers (lol), migraines, or just when we are very sleepy and can't dedicate ourselves 100% to the days lecture. With the digital recorders, we can just record and replay when the class is over for a memory jolt. There are so many discounts and coupons from overstock and other places online to get a great deal. Unfortunately, I didn't know about them and had to pay full price :( Always take advantage of online coupons and deals!

Disclaimer, this is a paid post for which I will be compensated. Please note: All thoughts and opinions expressed are completely my own.

GIVEAWAY - Brugo Mug - Review

Coffee can be a college student's best friend. Brugo Mug was kind enough to provide me with one of their great mugs, in sea glass, for review. I'm sure everyone, not just students, have the annoyance of their coffee turning cold and bitter before they can finish it. What a hassle it is to drive and get scalded by your coffee while trying to blow on it so it can reach the perfect temperature to sip.

Brugo has a double-wall insulated mug with a patented temperature control chamber that has a 3-position drink mode selector [Lock, Sip, Tip & Cool].  You simply position the selector on Tip & Cool, then tip your mug to fill the reservation chamber to bring your coffee to the perfect temperature zone, slip back to Sip and enjoy your coffee. The double-wall insulation allows you to hold the mug and not burn yourself. When you're not drinking out of it, simply putting the selector on Lock will keep it from spilling.

On average, a regular coffee runs me about $2.10 at Starbucks. I don't just get one in the morning, i tend to also get one during the afternoon because half of it went to waste; it got cold and bitter. My tiny coffee addiction runs me a good $10.50 a week. Not nearly as bad as some of my friends, but I'm frugal! I don't like wasting money when I don't have too. Throwing money down the drain just doesn't appeal to me.

Recently, i bought a bag of Dunkin' Donuts Coffee (12oz.) in Original Blend for $5. We have a drip coffee maker that i use to make coffee. For a little over a week, I have only been making coffee once a day in the morning before I head out to my classes. Now all I have to do is fill my Brugo mug. Since it doesn't chill my coffee and make it bitter, thanks to their innovative mug, my coffee stays in the PTZ. This allows me to save that money that I would've wasted by buying another cup of coffee at Starbucks.

In essence, I'm saving a lot of money since i don't have to buy that second cup of coffee from now on. By not buying the unnecessary second cup of coffee, I'm saving myself a little over $500 a year. Making it myself in the morning is not really much of a hassle so I'm enjoying those extra dollars in my pocket. Aside from the cost, it is very stylish. All my friends were asking me where I had got it, of course, I let them know :)

Thanks to Brugo mug for the opportunity to review and enjoy their great product. Brugo Mug has some special promotion for you guys; $25% off when you buy 2 or more and free shipping on orders over $50.00. They would make a perfect stocking stuffer :) They have been generous enough to give a Brugo mug to one of my lucky readers.

My "I Hate Time Warner" Rant

Yes. We all have our RANT posts. I don't really have too many, but this one is very well deserved. Never in my life did I think I would hate something as much as i do Time Warner Cable. Unfortunately in my area, they are the ONLY providers. How ridiculous. I don't watch much T.V., maybe 5 hours a week. Everything is online for me; my shows, movies, etc. However, my family does watch T.V. and thats the reason we are stuck with this overpriced nonsense. How crazy is it to charge over $230 a month for T.V., Cable Internet and crappy phone service? Unbelievable. Their crappy service goes down way too often, and its not like they're deducting those days from my bill.

So, today i woke up to find my internet was cut (and when that gets cut, so does my house phone). I call, make the payment and 20min. later NOTHING. So I have to call back (wasting my cell phone minutes) and they have to manually re-set my router, which i reset 3 times before I was forced to call. This isn't the worst of it, they HIJACKED twitter. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a twitter fan, but just as facebook, its important outlet for bloggers. When i hit home, it takes me to the most #%@&*!^ redundnt page @ap_index that has only 1 tweet, and it says, "whoops, you're broke!" What the fuck is that? Now when i click on home, that is where it takes me. Oh goodness i really hope they go bankrupt and slither away from existence! I'd rather deal with another crappy cable company then them.

Time Warner, please, just go away forever!

[Closed] - GIVEAWAY - ThinkGeek.com (Review)

Gadgets, electronics, and many other odd but fun items! ThinkGeek.com has been one of my favorite online stores ever since I can remember. Its just one of those fun sites you can sit and browse all night long. Thanks to Shane, over at ThinkGeek, i got the great honor to work with them and review a product.

I decided to review the Freeloader Pico Solar Charger. I think Solar Chargers are a great thing to add to your life. They are portable, so carrying one can help you out in some of those unexpected events in our lives. The Freeloader is great, portable-wise. It weighs a mere 49g and fits perfectly in your pocket, as it is also very slim. The Freeloader Pico Solar Charger can be charged via the Sun or USB. A USB charge is faster than solar.

It is recommended that you give the Freeloader a USB charge as its first. This charger is great for those of us who aren't necessarily next to our computers 24/7. This is a must-have for Campers who need the security of having something to charge their cell phone (in an emergency or for any reason). I wish i would've had this when my car broke down on the freeway, at 1am, in the dark.. in L.A.. Not a nice place to have this happen.

I've used this to charge my cell phone, because my HTC Smart Phone eats up battery like crazy, especially when i have bluetooth and wifi enabled. I've also used it to charge my MP3. It has a permanent place in my Tokidoki bag from now on. Its very user-friendly, just charge it and keep it handy whenever you go out. Very simple and very handy device. To me, this device has no cons whatsoever. Its very cute and stylish as well.

The best thing is that this charger delivers a full charge to your device in only 30min. and provides up to 35hr to your cellphone, 14hr to your MP3 and 1.5hr to your GPS. With the extra adapters included with the Pico Freeloader, you can charge you small pin Nokia, Sony Ericsson, G Series Samsung, and any device/phone that has a mini-usb port.

Here are some quick specifications from the website:
  • 75mA premium quality crystalline solar cells
  • 800mAh environmentally friendly Li-ion battery - typical battery life is 2 years
  • Input voltage - 5v/250mA
  • Size: 105 x 45 x 11.5mm
I LOVE ThinkGeek! You guys should head on over there and start browsing, lol. They have such great things. All you gadget loving geeks (like me) will love them too! Below you'll see a couple super-cool things they sell! :)

Just a few of their items include prenatal musical systems, video watches, spy cams, bacon soap, kitchen accessories, gadgets, light up t-shirts, and even Star Trek related items. They are have baby items, great toys for kids and toddlers, plushies, kitchen-items and much more!

ThinkGeek.com is a website you can spend hours browsing. Overall, i love the Pico Freeloader Solar Charger. Thanks to ThinkGeek for the opportunity to work with them and review the charger! :) Very friendly people over there! So friendly that they have graciously offered one of my lucky readers a $75 Gift Certificate to their site!
