Happy Birthday To... ME!!! :) #Birthday

Its My Birthday Today
Exactly 23 years ago in the early afternoon, a queen was born. Lol. I'm joking, no queen, just myself. I turn 23 today. Its funny how I don't seem to enjoy birthdays like I used to when I was young. I remember being 15 years old wishing I could already be 18. Well, 18 came and went, as did 19, 20, 21 and 22. Time sure does fly by and it makes me wish I could go back in time to tell myself to be more of a rebel lol. I was terrified of the consequences I would have if I sneaked out of my house or ditched and went to the beach and whatnot. Now I look back and wish I had that excitement, mainly because I know I had a good educated head on my shoulders and I wish I would've taken more risks and had fun. After all, my ditching and going to Starbucks and the library doesn't count as a "big adventure" lol.

 Star Trek Spock Birthday Cake
Happy Birthday to all the other Oct. 7 birthday people out there. Have a fun birthday and remember the good times. I, like last year, wish I could have my rum drenched cake from Portos in Burbank, CA. It is so good, but I came across this picture of a Star Trek Spock cake... and you all know my love for Spock, so I would die for a cake like that lol. :) For all of you that have been generous and donated to my tip jar, thank you so much! If you would like to feed my tip jar (via PayPal) click the tip jar image on the right hand sidebar.

Hidden Geeky Star Trek Treasures @ Fallas Paderes

Hidden Star Trek Spock Kirk Dolls
I love when I go out shopping and find little treasures, or things I wouldn't expect to find, at stores. I recently went to Fallas Paderes, a kind of discount store where I always find odd little things that I just HAVE to buy. We headed there after going to TJ MAXX, JC Penney and Target to get new clothes for my little sister. Out of curiosity I always go to the back area that has everything that is not clothing and I comes across a Kirk Doll from the Star Trek 2009 movie (not the original series). I love the movie, so I panic and think there surely has to be a new Spock as well. After 10min. of searching I find the original Spock, and new Spock from the 2009 movie. They were together, as if they were waiting for me, lol. I grab them both, a a tricorder toy, and guard them with my life until I get to the checkout. They were only $2.99 each. Yeah... $3 for my favorite men. I wanted to find the new Chekov, since he was played by Anton Yelchin and I adore him.

These are little geeky treasures that I LOVE finding at discount stores, its all very random. Have you ever found something unexpected at a store before? :)

Review - Polaroid Image Sunglasses #Travel-Friendly

Polaroid Image Sun Glasses Review
I find it amazing that I didn't look into sunglasses for our upcoming trip. This makes no sense because we're heading to a country that virtually has no Winter or Fall season, it is Summer all year round. Makes sense, it is located in the tropics. Polaroid was kind enough to provide me with a pair of sunglasses from their Best Under The Sun Collection to review. I chose the Polaroid Image Sunglasses in Matte Black. These sunglasses retail for $110 and are of very good quality. The Polaroid Image Sunglasses are styled after the 80s aviator sunglasses. Aviators were extremely popular in the 80s, and not just in the U.S. There are pictures of my dad in Nicaragua rocking Aviators in many pictures, it was a huge style all around the world. Polaroid Image Sunglasses:
  • Polaroid polarized lenses for glare-free vision
  • 100% UV400 protection - protects eyes from UVA, UVB and UVC rays
  • Comes wtih Best Under the Sun case and microfiber cloth
The sunglasses are very sturdy and well packaged in their Best Under The Sun case for maximum protection. I tried these sunglasses out for about a week but just couldn't get used to them. I adore them but they are far too big for my face. They take up about half my face, no joke. My dad has been wearing them lately and took a huge liking to them. We both love the style, but it ultimately looks 100x better on him. It works out great, as he often has long 1+ hour drives and the sun hits him right in the face, but the sunglasses help out with that problem thanks to Polaroid's polarizaion lens technology.

Polaroid's Best Under The Sun collection has many different styles of sunglasses sure to fit everyone's style. Another paid I adore is the beautiful cat-eye frames from the mid 50s, rightfully names Marilyn. A huge thanks to Polaroid for the opportunity to review their great sunglasses, they will be put to great use under sun on our trip! :)

Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for this post, however I did receive the product in question,  from the company or their representing  PR company,  free of charge in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own and I have provided a fair and honest review. I received no other compensation for my review nor was I under any obligation to give a positive review.

Giveaway - Freschetta Pizza "Proud To Support Pink"

Freschetta Pizza Proud To Support Pink Giveaway Breast Cancer Month
I recently got the chance to pick up a Freschetta Pizza, we got the Canadian Ham and Pineapple variety. I can't say I'm too crazy about it, did love how fresh it looked right out of their great packaging. Smelled deliciously fresh, popped it in the oven and everyone got a slice. I like my pizza chewy with some crunch, and this Freschetta pizza was just not it for me. It was a little too chewy for my taste, but the sauce, Canadian bacon and Pineapple toppings were finger-licking good. It definatelt didn't taste like frozen pizza.

Freschetta is making a difference in October with their Proud To Support Pink program. The Freschetta Proud to Support Pink program aims to donate $50,000 to the Memorial Sloan-Jettering Cancer Center. From 9/25 to 10/31 Freschetta will donate $1 for every purchase of their specially marked packages of Freschetta Pizzas and Artisan Pizza Crusts. Just visit ProudToSupportPink.com and enter the code found in the specially marked packages.

Freschetta is also holding a sweepstakes where they will giving away 50 Pink iPod Shuffle Players each week! They also will be donating 50 Pink iPod Players to four cancer centers for patients to use during treatments. A great program for a great cause. I personally don't know anyone who has been struck with his horrible disease, but have read stories from many survivors online. There is hope, lets help Freschetta reach their $50,000 donation goal! Here is your chance to win a coupon for a FREE Freschetta Pizza of your choice and + goodies.

What Type Of Face Wash Do You Use?

Ladies, we're taught to wash our face before we go to sleep to remove all the dirt, make up on it. This is good advice, but no one ever told me what to wash it with. When I was younger I used soap, and that is, by far, the worst thing to wash your face with. It dries it up and my skin felt extremely tight when dry. Horrible. Up until a couple years ago, at around 18, that I started experimenting with different types of face wash.

I tried face wash in many different varieties; foam, cream, scrub, etc. I use to buy tubes in the travel products aisle at my store and test them out for a couple of days. The foam-type face wash was useless. In my opinion, they feel so light that you don't feel like you're getting a cleaning at all. Cream face wash felt heavy while washing my face. I do not like it, but the ones with exfoliating beads are a bit better. Scrubs are my type of face wash. I love exfoliating scrubs because you can feel the gritty texture and you know its scrubbing off the dirt, make-up and dead skin cells.

My face is acne-free, with the exception of some blemishes and random small breakouts. My sin is combination dry/oily so it was difficult finding one that worked well. I now use Aveeno's Skin Brightening Daily Scrub and it does wonders. I follow it up with some Sin lightning face lotion at night and my skin looks wonderful. This and plenty of water works wonders. Anyone go through what I did to find a face wash that worked for you?

Review - Audiovox D710 7" Portable DVD Player #Travel-Friendly

Audiovox 7-inch. Widescreen Portable DVD Player Review
Imagine being stuck on a long 6+ hour flight on a plane. Now imagine the hearing the flight attendants announce the featured movie they will be showing and its one you don't like or want to watch. That won't be a problem for me, since I'll have a handy Audiovox product to keep me entertained on the flight. On my last flight, I was stuck watching "Last Holiday"... and I am not a Latifah fan.

We were sent the Audiovox D710 7" Portable DVD Player that can play DVDs, CDs, CD-R/RW and has picture CD playback. We have no need to listen to music via CDs or view pictures on a portable DVD player, but the extra features are a nice perk. The portable DVD player works effortlessly, you pop in a DVD and it automatically plays. Nothing better than simplicity. It is very sturdy and has a nice form.

Audiovox 7-inch. Widescreen Portable DVD Player Review
The portable DVD player has a 7" screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The built in stereo speakers are located right under the screen and have good volume, although at the highest setting it tends to sound a bit garbled. There are handy buttons all throughout the top left hand side of the device. Buttons are nice, identifiable and big. There are handy outputs for audio and video on the side of the device, as well as two, yes TWO headphone jacks. I think that is a wonderful addition, since either me and my sister or my baby sister and little brother will be watching movies on the plane and won't have to share earphones. In the box came came included a car charger which has come in handy since we've received it.

While I find the simplicity of using the Audiovox DVD player a great plus, the screen is not the greatest resolution but does have nice vivid color. At times it looked a bit grainy, but I do like how it is not a shiny screen, but rather matte. Another con is its size, not its weight, but its size. While closed, this portable DVD player is a whopping 1.6" thick. This wouldn't present much of a problem if you're going to a family's house or camping and want to take it (and its charger) with you, but when taking it on a flight, size matters. Overall we have really enjoyed taking the device with us on long 1hr+ car trips for my younger siblings. It will surely be a great thing to have with us on the long plane ride. A huge thanks to Audiovox for the opportunity to review their product.
