Vote ☑Yes for Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs for L.A.!

I just came across an Ad in the Sunday paper from September 19th. Its an full page dedicated to making the Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs the OFFICIAL hot dog of Los Angeles. It was accompanied by a coupon ($2 wyb (1) package of Farmer John Hot Dogs and (1) of Farmer John Bacon x10/24).

If you're from Los Angeles or even if you've been to downtown (especially the Santee Alley) you have smelled them from blocks away. They truly are delicious! You'll find them alongside any of those taco vendors on the streets or the taco trucks. L.A. doesn't have an official hot dog :(
For every vote these scrumptious dogs get to be L.A's official hot dog, Farmer John will donate one pound of food—up to 25,000 pounds—to local food banks, including the Union Rescue Mission Food Bank in downtown Los Angeles. So far, they have 15,898 votes and it ends on November 2nd.

So get to voting! Us Angelinos need an official hot dog and you'll help a great cause!

Review - Flat Iron Experts (Corioliss Flat Iron)

I am a big fan of curling my hair for special events. My hair is thick and naturally straight and wavy with some occasional amazing curls. My sister just straightens the living life out of her hair. Straightening hair has its repercussions if you don't take necessary precautions; using treatments to hydrate your hair, products that are made to protect your hair from heat styling and others. Thanks to Flat Iron Experts, we were able to review one of their flat irons.

We were sent the Corioliss Pro Fix Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron in pink. This flat iron has 1" tourmaline coated ceramic plates which help seal in moisture and eliminate frizz when styling your hair. It uses something called Far Infrared (FIR) which are electromagnetic waves of energy that penetrate the hair shaft allowing it to dry it from the inside out, resulting in less damage to hair and retained moisture.

I occasionally curl my hair for special events, I was extremely surprised to learn that a straightening iron could do that. After viewing the video provided by Flat Iron Experts on the flat iron's product page, it opened up a whole new world to me. I did just as instructed on the video and got some really nice soft curls in. Who knew a flat iron could curl? I sure didn't. My sister, the straightener, proceeded to apply some Hana Shine Shield to protect her hair before heat styling. She straightened her entire head of hair in less than 10min. Something that would take me well over 30min.  She loves that it doesn't dry out or burn her hair. Her hair looked extremely soft and silky after straightening it. After straightening her hair she said, and I quote, "Wow, its not frizzy anymore". lol.

We love the fact that the Corioliss doesn't burn either of our hair and that it heats up very quickly. I have had about 3 weeks to use it and I am very content with the flat iron. I have used it to straighten my little sisters hair as well. She is only 4 and after a quick add of Dove, her hair straightens very quickly. Its not something she gets done daily, just on some rare occasions like family portraits or our picture sessions.

Overall, I love the Corioliss. The only con i find is cosmetic. I am not fond of the color pink, especially the fact that the entire flat iron is in this color. That aside, we have enjoyed it very much. Thanks to Flat Iron Experts for the opportunity to review their product :)

Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for this post, however I did receive the product in question to review. All opinions are my own and I have provided a fair and honest review. I received no other compensation for my review nor was I under any obligation to give a positive review.

Student Saving Bucks Is Changing? Maybe?

Hey guys! I hope you don't all run off, as I will be changing my layout in the upcoming week (or maybe later). I HATE having a blog that looks cluttered, although I don't think mine does, I honestly would prefer a different layout with 3 columns instead of 2. Stick around and if you happen to drop on by and everything seems different, do NOT panic! lol.

IN OTHER NEWS - I wrote a post the other say about some updates of mine and mentioned I want my blog to be a bit more personal. I love variety, and that is what I plan on bringing here :) I not only enjoy saving money (and helping others do the same), I love cooking, gardening, being creative, long walks on the beach and other things. :) Thanks to the Blog Hops i join I have found some of the most interesting crafting blogs that inspire me to make things. I don't know if I'm good with a needle, but I sure as hell am going to try. These bloggers make the cutest things and some have tutorials on how to make them.

Also, its no surprise I love me some food/cooking blogs! I see people with family recipes on their blogs and I'm inspired to share some of my families recipes too. So all of you that aren't afraid to TRY NEW THINGS, I hope you'll keep an eye out for a new post I'll be working on. Its a dish (well more of an appetizer or desert) called Buñuelos, which is popular in many countries (especially in Latin America). (Sneak Peek at finished product [picture] to the left). I will be sharing with the way we make it in Nicaragua, my gorgeous and beautiful country located in Latin America :)

Ai Mei's Random Updates

Hey guys! Remember my post about Coupon Organization I posted a little while ago? I'm so glad to say that its holding out wonderfully (See picture above as proof, lol)! I have my coupons nicely organized in there by date, they are NOT cluttering up my room like before. Although, i DO have to go through the older ones (i have some as far back as May).

Another great thing was that I'm very grateful you guys recommended the accordion filer found at the Target Dollar Spot. I bought one and it has been working out great too (see picture to the right as proof ahah)! Nice and compact, fits it my bag, isn't cluttered and is organized. :)

My College classes started last month in August and so far, I'm doing ok on managing time for school, school work, family, friends, and my blog :) I don't know why I insist on keeping so busy. It makes me more aware and allows me to be more productive, but it can stress me out here and there.

The only unfortunate thing is that my laptop (Sony Vaio) is in its last months. :'( I turn it on, it goes straight to the infamous blue screen of death (BSoD), off the charger (after being fully charged) it lasts less than 30min. before it shuts down. And that is on "power saver" mode. Hopefully I can save up for a new one, but I doubt I'll be able to afford a new one. The only "opportunity" I have is Black Friday. BUT I don't know if I want to sit outside of the store for 2-3 days just to get a laptop that will break down in a years time. What a shame, it only lasted about 3 years :(

Other than the unfortunate laptop thing, I'm doing well! My blog was meant to be simply a deal blog but I'm planning on turning that around. I don't want to have about 2-3 different blogs just to blog about other things than saving. You can expect more personal posts on my part. ;)
