          Review - Jarritos Soda

Living in Los Angeles, its impossible not to see Jarritos Soda alongside Sprite, Pepsi and other drinks in every liquor store you tend to walk in. Jarritos is a Mexican drink that has been around since the 50s. It hard to not spot those colorful glass bottles. I was contacted by Jarritos, and thanks to Caitlin, i was sent some to review.

I received all of Jarritos 11 flavors; Toronja (Grapefruit), Limon (Lemon), Lima-Limon (Lemon Lime), Fresa (Strawberry), Tamarindo (Tamarind), Mandarina (Mandarin), Pina (Pineapple), Tutifruiti (Fruit Punch), Jamaica (Hibiscus) Mango and Guayaba (Guava).

Jarritos now makes their drinks with 100% Natural Sugar, that means no high fructose corn syrup. They also contain less carbonation than other popular American soft drinks.

Both the Lime and Lemon Lime flavors had a nice citrus taste. The Strawberry, Mango, Mandarin, Pineapple had a nice flavor, not too overpowering. They tasted more like a fruit juice with a little bit of carbonation, as opposed to fruit sodas like those of Welchs. I enjoyed the fruity taste of these very much. Jamaica, which is a Hibiscus tea flavored drink, was not appealing to me at all. Neither was the Tamarind or Guava. The Guava lacked the guava taste I'm used to from guava nectar. My favorite drink, by far, was Toronja. This grapefruit drink had a sour but sweet and citrus-like taste. It was great!

Thanks to Jarritos for the opportunity to taste and review their great products. I was a big fan before and now I'm left wondering why I ever stopped. I was also sent a Jarritos T-shirt, and a ClubJarritos CD with artists such as Christian Castro, Belina and other artists. It was nice to pop in the CD and drink an ice cold Jarritos :)

Also, Jarritos Nation contest is in effect. Created for fans of Jarritos to come together and awards prizes (like digital cameras and even a 12-day cruise to Hawaii) for posting photos.

Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for this post, however I did receive the product in question to review. All opinions are my own and I have provided a fair and honest review. I received no other compensation for my review nor was I under any obligation to give a positive review.

Review - Vitalicious VitaTops & VitaBrownies

I had seen mentions of Vitalicious popping up all over the internet. I never was into healthy food when I was younger, so the idea of "healthy" muffins, brownies, and other baked goods never interested me. Recently, I stumbled on Vitalicious again, after reading a review. I got to reading about how their VitaTops only have 100 calories and 15 vitamins and minerals. This stirred up my curiosity enough to contact them for a review.

Thanks to Shelley, over at Vitalicious, i was sent a sample pack. I received (2) of each of the following VitaTops: Chocolate Mint, Banana Nut, Blue Bran, Triple Chocolate Chunk, Raisin Bran, Deep Chocolate, Apple Crumb, Fudgy Peanut Butter Chip and Golden Corn. I also received box of VitaBrownies.
As soon as I received the package, I tried the Fudgy Peanut Butter Chip VitaTop, at this point it was warm. I must admit, I did not like it one bit. So i stuck the rest in the freezer. After a couple hours, I took a Chocolate Mint VitaTop and ate it frozen. Surprisingly, I found out I prefer them frozen, as opposed to warm. They can also be toasted. Vitalicious VitaTops all have a mere 100 calories and contain 15 minerals and vitamins. I also received a box of Deep & Velvety Chocolate VitaBrownies. These are also only 100 calories. I found them to be very dry, for a lack of a better word. I'm a brownie-holic, but these just didn't register well with my taste buds. Frozen, thawed, or even toasted.

Overall, I love the fact that Vitalicious baked good contain absolutely no artificial ingredients or preservatives. With the low calories, you can't feel guilty after eating them. Their website even mentions

"All it takes to walk off the 80-100 Calorie 2oz Vitamuffin or Vitatop is 13-15 minutes."

I love the VitaTops, thankfully they sell them locally at Vons, Ralphs and Target, so when we're finished with what we were sent for review, we'll be picking up some more :) Thanks to Vitalicious for the opportunity to review their products.

Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for this post, however I did receive the product in question to review. All opinions are my own and I have provided a fair and honest review. I received no other compensation for my review nor was I under any obligation to give a positive review.

          I've Been BamDEWzled!

This has never happened to me before. I found an EMPTY can of Mountain Dew in a 12-pk. It is perfectly sealed, it has a little puncture on the bottom but no sign of spilled liquid inside the box. How odd, right? I took a video of me opening it below. It only had a tiny bit of soda inside.

I DO plan on calling Pepsi Co. tomorrow, I'd love to know how many people call with this same problem. I'm hoping they offer coupons for free something, because I don't like to waste money. A can that is defective and empty that I paid for, is wasted money imo :)

Has this happened to anyone else? I know I'm not alone! lol.

UPDATE: I called, and some super nice lady said she'll be making it up to me by sending me some coupon(s) :) I forgot to ask how often they get those calls though, lol!

          Review - Tasty Bite

Vegetarian and kosher food. Not really something that would've appealed to me a couple of years ago. My willingness to actually try foods before i decide i don't like them has opened a whole new world to me. I use to think vegetarian food was just greens and veggies, not the case for Tasty Bite.

Thanks to Doug, over at Tasty Bite, i was sent a couple of their products to review. I received the Madras Lentils, Channa Masala, Garlic Brown Rice and Tandori Rice. I don't have much any experience with Indian food, so I was ecstatic to find Tasty Bite's Recipe Page. I wish i could have taken pictures of the dishes i made, but they were literally gone in a blink of an eye.

          • Madras Lentils (Lentils, red beans & spices in a creamy tomato sauce). For this, I came across the Madras Lentils Dip recipe. It looked tasty and I had every ingredient it called for so I decided on it. It took less than 10min. to finish the dip. We served it with corn chips and a fresh side of sour cream. I was expecting for it to be too spicy, as Indian food is known for their spicy food. The spice was just right, the taste was great! Its reminiscent of chilli and actually has a meaty taste, but it is ALL vegetarian. This was, by far, my favorite.
          • Channa Masala (Chickpeas slow-simmered with onions, tomatoes & spices). I tasted this one, but did not finish the whole entree. I was expecting something spicier. It was very mild and the texture of the chickpeas just didn't go with the rest. The onion was overpowering and too sweet.
          • Tandoori Rice (Long grain rice flavored with rich aromatic Indian spices). I made some delicious grilled Lime Chicken & Veggie kabobs to pair with the Tandoori rice. Both complimented each other very well. The rice smelled delicious and wasn't oily like many ready-to-eat rices.
          • Garlic Brown Rice (Nutty brown rice with roasted garlic corn and vegetables). Unfortunately i didn't have the opportunity to try this, it mysteriously "disappeared".
Tasty Bite offers Entrees, Rices, Simmer Sauces and Meal Inspirations. They are easy and fast to make. They take about 90sec. to heat up. This is GREAT for college students, or anyone, who doesn't have a lot of time to cook, but still wants to eat good healthy food. They are tasty, vegetarian, kosher, and msg- and glutton-free.

Overall, Tasty Bite sure does make some tasty bites! I enjoyed the Madras Lentils very much! This was a new experience, as I've never tried any sort of Indian cuisine before. Thank you, Tasty Bite, for allowing me to venture and try some Indian cuisine! :)

          Review - Dezign With a Z

Dezign With a Z wall decals and wall stickers
I'm sure we have all come across many of those wall decal websites. I've noticed many of them have mostly the same type of decals, with only a handful that stand out. I tend to look for abstracts trees (i love trees), nature-related, and super cute anime-type wall decals. I found a company that sells the most adorable multi-colored anime-type wall decals, but of course, they are for kids. At the tender age of 21, i could still squeeze myself in that category! lol.

Dezign With a Z is a wall-decal company located in San Francisco. They have a hundreds of wall decals that vary in size and gives the customer the ability to customize it. With over 24 colors to choose from, you can have a complete "re-wallution", as they call it. I absolutely love the selection of decals. They also have Resin Acrylic Wall Mirrors in shapes of lips, hearts and even Asian-inspired. Below are a couple of wall decals they have available that I absolutely adore:

Thanks to Paula over at Dezign With a Z, I was sent two wall decals to review. One thing that intrigued me was that I wasn't able to choose the designs, they were chosen based on my blog style. I love that! Why? Because, as you can see, my layout has a tree and i LOVE trees :) So, what I received was a Cherry Blossom and Hollow Stars.

My wall decals both came in a bright red. When I saw the Cherry Blossom branch, I absolutely fell in love! The design is very modern and chic and I immediately knew where i was going to place it.  I noticed it looks good upside down. So, I placed it on the wall that everyone sees when they come in through the foyer of the house and at the top of the stairway.

Now, the application was a bit tough for me. We have very high ceilings so I grabbed the ladder and started to see how I was going to place it. The instructions say that you have to rid the sheet of air bubbles and make sure it completely sticks to the transparent sheet. This took about 5 minutes and the help of my sister. When i finally separated the decal from the other sheet, i placed it on the wall. This took another 6-7 minutes. It was rather tough to have the decal stick to the wall. I tried the credit card method, making sure to pull little by little but the decal kept sticking back to the transparent paper. When i finally got done with it, i smoothed it over on the wall and it looks amazing!

Overall, i love the wall decals that were chosen on my behalf. I think they fit my personality very well. Thank you to Dezign With a Z for the opportunity to review their great decals. The hollow stars still haven't been put up, but I have an idea of how i want to place them, I hope to take a picture when I get it done. The stars came in a set of 20 and don't have many different sections like the Cherry Blossom so it will be much easier and faster to apply to my wall.

          Tiny "Paw"licious Spotlight

So, I've been giving my big Siberian Husky all the spotlight in the reviews, lol. This is my other baby, Kimchi. I've had this cutie since she was 2 weeks old. Poor thing could have been left on the street alone, but I took her in and gave her all my love. She just turned 1 year old this year in May. I got my Husky from a lady who couldn't handle him, she had previously gotten him from a shelter. I honestly feel blessed to have helped my poor babies, who knows what could have happened to them if i didn't take them in. She did the funniest thing yesterday, she went into our dog stockpile and stole a whole bag of Dentastix!

The only unfortunate thing is that she is destructive sometimes. Yesterday she chewed through the wires of my sisters speakers... which i had let her BORROW :(  I'm hoping I can rid her of this habit. If i could list things shes ruined, you'd be here for a while. Lets just say shes gone through a lot of doggy beds. Wondering if any of you have this problem and what you've done to help correct it?
