Wandering Mind; What I want to do!

Its 3 something in the morning right now. I am a late-night blogger. I actually prefer to do a lot of what I do in the day, at night. Night time is just much more fun! As soon as it hits around 8pm, all goes quiet, I detest that! I can understand though, its not like my neighborhood is full of 20-something years old like myself. Its not a good thing all the time, since I have school and work.

I'm here at my desk finishing my anthropology paper while listening to Bruno Mars' "Somewhere in Brooklyn" from his new album Doo Wops & Hooligans. My brain is just all over the place, I notice at night, since its so quiet, my mind wanders and asks a lot of what ifs. We all have those moments, right? I tend to daydream a lot and it disappoints me afterwords because I daydream about traveling to other countries, going on a road trip in the U.S., being a movie director, defeating the Klingons with Captain Kirk and Spock, and many other things. There is so much I want to do, and it disappoints me that at 22, I haven't done much.

So, I want to make this a fun post and just quickly make a list of things I want to do before I'm 30 (that gives me enough time, I hope!). Now, in no particular order:
  1. Go to a musical.
  2. Go camping, with many places around Los Angeles, I should be able to find one.
  3. Watch The Packers at a Home Game - against anyone, really!
  4. Dress up in something super scary on Halloween and scare the shit out of people lol! Video tape it all!
  5. Join the L.A. Derby Dolls :)
  6. Attend the Electric Daisy Carnival
  7. Be in the audience at a Conan O'Brien Show. Go CoCo!
  8. Attend a Murder Mystery Dinner Party
  9. Make a movie with friends
  10. Go to Taiwan and visit all the locations for the Devil Beside Me drama. lol.
  11. Go play Laser Tag and Paintball :)
  12. Go Sand-boarding down Cerro Negro, an active volcano in Nicaragua
  13. Take Vengeance on some people I don't like; We all have our dark side!
  14. Make a Wikipedia page about myself haha.
Ok, some are pretty dumb, but hey, its what I want to do :) This isn't even 10% of what I have in mind, its fun to think about though. Let your mind wander! What are some things you guys wish you could do?

[Closed] - GIVEAWAY - MovieNoodle Horror Movie Package

Looking to send someone a great movie package with goodies? Need a movie night with the family? Looking to get scared for Halloween with some goodies? Movie Noodle is the answer. I recently contacted Movie Noodle and they agreed to sponsor a review and giveaway for my Birthday Party on Elm Street blog event. Want to know more about MovieNoodle? From their website:
"MovieNoodle is a family owned & operated business. It was started by public educators who wanted to offer a fun & safe movie theater package that parents could send to their kids off in college. MovieNoodle offers you the perfect opportunity to send a unique gift to the movie lover in your life - including all the 'perks' of a night at the theater (including a new DVD). MovieNoodle has grown to offer packages for all kinds of people as they aim to satisfy a wide variety of customers."
Thanks to Wes, over at Movie Noodle, I was sent the Horror Movie Package. There was a small delay but I was reassured that it was being sent :) I love how family-run businesses tend to give a little more love and communicate with their consumers, something many big companies tend to lose as they grow. When i received it, it was very well-packaged with peanuts. In the box was:
  • 1 DVD (Sleepy Hallow)
  • 1 Personalized Movie Ticket Note
  • 1 Movie Theater Popcorn Tub
  • 3 Microwave Bags of Act II Popcorn
  • 1 16 oz Coke
  • Movie Theater Size Raisinets & Whoppers
  • Movie Theater size Peanut M&Ms
  • Bag filled with Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
  • Bag with Pumpkin lollipops and candy rings
  • Coffin-Shaped box of Gummy Candy Body Parts
Everything came with a cute wicker basket, so i arranged everything in there for the photo :) Very cute. The Horror Movie Package sells for $33.95 on the site. Its a very nice assortment for a nice chilly October Movie Night by yourself or with a friend or two. For the price, not including shipping, i think it should include a little more variety. Overall, I think its a nice assortment and with those adorable eyeball and severed feet candies, it lives up to its name. lol. The movie I chose, Sleepy Hallow, came wrapped with a personalized, and very adorable, movie ticket note. Sleepy Hallow was the only movie int heir selection i had not seen, and hey, anything with Johnny Depp is well-worth my time.

Movie Noodle has great packages for birthdays, Halloween, and even personalized ones for basketball lovers and kids. They also have Special Movie Packages with more than 1 movie and t.v. shows like 24 and The Office. A big thanks to Wes at MovieNoodle for the opportunity to review their great package. They have been gracious enough to allow one of my lucky readers to win a Horror Movie Package as well!

GIVEAWAY - Powermat Wireless Charging System

Is your life being consumed by power cords, connections, chargers, etc.? Mine sure was. I'm very tech-savvy and I love gadgets, but the chargers and connections and all the other wires and cables are hard to keep up with. I constantly plug the wrong connection into a device, something that can seriously damage them one day. Thanks to Megan over at Powermat, I was sent Powermat's Portable Wireless Charging System and the Home & Office Wireless Charging Systems along with many other extras to review.

I received the Home & Office Wireless Charging device and the Portable Wireless Charging device, which work as indicated. The only difference between both is being portability and design. The portable device has hinges which allows it to close and fold. It also came with a very nice sturdy case with room for the charger. Each mat came with a box of applicators and a universal Powercube receiver. The Powercube is a receiver that allows you to charge your mini USB electronics and an array of others with tips included for LG, Nintendo DS lite and DSi, Sony, Samsung, Apple and Micro USB. They can be conveniently stored in an included storage box. I also reveived a dedicated Nintendo DSi back cover receiver. Both Powermats can charge up to 4 devices, 3 on the mat and there is 1 USB connection on the top. It has dedicated buttons for managing light and sound, which came in handy at night time. The white LED lights actually made a great night light source for me.

As I've mentioned many times before, the packaging is very important to a product, and Powermat's packaging is very visually pleasing. Their charging systems and accessories are very sleek and modern-looking as well. Wireless charging is not a new concept, it has been around for a long time. Powermat is not actually wireless, it requires some cables and applicators in order to work. You have to plug the mats in to an outlet, then add either a dedicated receiver (only available for a few devices like iPod, Nintendo DSi, Blackberry and others) or plug in the powercube receiver with additional tips. I absolutely love the fact that the Powermat shuts off automatically when full charge is achieved, so it saves energy and prevents my phone and other devices from overcharging which could cause them to malfunction.

The Powermat might seem like too much of an investment (ARV $79.99 for the Powermat) and/or hassle to some, as it is not really wireless and requires quite a bit of accessories for it to work for you. I think it is a great product, overpriced, but works well. I noticed my HTC Smart Phone charged 40% faster on the Powermat, as opposed to the wall charger. As a college student with very little time to waste, this was a power selling point for me. As for my LG phone, Sony PSP, Nintendo DS and DSi and MP3 players that I charge, i noticed they all charged considerably faster via the Powermat.

Its My Birthday & I'll Cry If I Want To...

Ok.. its not my birthday just yet, and I won't cry. Well, I will if the Green Bay Packers don't win against the Redskins this Sunday 10/10! lol! Its amazing to think that almost 22 years have passed by so quick. I remember wishing i was 18 when i was 15 and now i just wish i was 17. I don't know if you guys watch The Nanny on Nick at Nite, but she often lies about her age, she seems to always turn around 29.. this just might be something I need to do soon. lol. I'll stay in my early 20s for the next 10 years and go on like that :)

I hope you guys come drop by for the Birthday Party on Elm Street giveaway event that kicks off this Thursday, October 7th, my official birthday. Got some great sponsors. Working hard on the posts right now because I have a paper due at the end of the week too. Rough Week!

I just wanted to quickly inform all L.A. residents of a great food spot. I have a deep love for Portos Bakery, and if you've never even heard of them, you need to crawl out from that rock! They are, without a doubt, the best Cuban bakery in L.A. country. They have meat-filled potato balls and meat cakes that are to die for! The smell of their Cuban Sandwich greets you at their packed entrance :) And believe me, this place is packed and that should let you know how loved this place is! I'm mentioning Portos because HOPEFULLY I'll be getting their Cuban cake, a yellow sponge cake soaked in Brandy, yum! Or at least their Fruit Tart! I usually go to the Glendale store:

Where to go? Porto's Bakery, located at 315 North Brand Blvd. Glendale, CA 9120

I'm hoping with all my heart since I really didn't get cake last year :'( Oh, i'm such a child haha! See their delicious food below:

[Closed] - Giveaway - Dora Talking Digital Camera

My little sister loves watching Nickelodeon shows, among her favorites are Ni Hao Kai Lan, iCarly, Victorious and Dora the Explorer. Watching Dora almost everyday you can imagine the excitement she showed when I told her what she was going to get to review. Yes, she likes to help me review things, how cute of her!

Thanks to Jessica, and Sakar International whom licenses Dora products, we were sent the Dora The Explorer Digital Talking Camera. The package comes with the camera, software cd, usb connection and a manual. The camera requires 2 AAA batteries and is rather simple to use. It is also very well built, made of plastic has a camera and mode button, usb connection, small LCD screen and the view hole. It also works as a webcam on Macintosh and Windows. This camera is designed to work well even after those unintended falls.

My sister went picture crazy as soon as she received it. The camera's mode button is easily accessible to her and unfortunately she ended up deleting them all. It also took a couple tries for her to take pictures correctly, as it is a talking camera and it takes a picture after you hear Dora talk. This ended up being a bit frustrating because she had to hold the camera still until Dora finished her phrase or else the pictures would be blurry. That is not a good thing for very active 4 year olds. She did get the hang of it after about a dozen pictures. To the left you'll see what she calls her photography masterpiece. She apparently loves my desktop background for Windows 7.

The software is very easy to install and photos are uploaded in mere seconds. The software comes with a couple of Dora games and the option to edit your pictures using Dora icons and borders. Thanks to Jessica and Sakar for letting us review the camera, my sister is very content with it. The camera would make a great stocking stuffer this Christmas, they retail for about $24.99. They have also been gracious enough to give one away to 1 of my lucky readers!
