StudentSavingBucks - 100,000 Visitors!

Today, April 22, 2011, Student Saving Bucks has surpassed 100,000 visitors. That is a lot! Its practically like having the entire cities of Berkeley, California; Pompano Beach, Florida or even Green Bay, Wisconsin (home of the great Green Bay Packers) visiting my blog. I'm glad you guys keep coming back :)

A couple months back, in November 2010, I hit the 100,000 page views, which was super exiting, but 100,000 visitors is just amazing. I love that you guys keep coming back :) I'm surprised I stuck with the blog for this long, I did it for fun in the beginning but it does become work. I am here to stay though! :)

Here is to 100,000 more! :)

NutriSystem - Preparing To Start The Journey

I'll be starting my NutriSystem journey very soon, as I mentioned earlier this week. I want to weigh-in on Mondays so I will start the program this upcoming Monday and post my first weigh-in on the 2nd of May. I received my NutriSystem food later that day. I got my Pantry food (includes cereals, breads, bars, etc) and the Frozen foods (includes ice creams, frozen meals, etc.). I was surprised to receive both in the same day, as I heard the frozen food generally gets delivered at a later date after the pantry food.

I am on the Women's Basic program and was able to customize my Pantry food options, so I picked foods I knew I'd be comfortable eating. I was confused, and a little upset, that I wouldn't be able to customize the Frozen food options but am mildy content with what I did receive. Starting the NutriSystem program is something NEW to me, so I guess it wouldn't be too hard eating meals like spinach and ravioli that I wouldn't of chosen otherwise, lol. The food options are extensive on the Women's Basic plan, the foods below are ones that look best to me and my (very picky) taste. Can't wait to start tasting them all!
On NutriSystem, you have to add your own items in (these are called add-ins). They range from veggies, fats, fruits and carbohydrates. I was not aware of it at all, but am happy I get to choose what I get to add. On the plan there are also certain items that you can eat an unlimited amount of, like celery, peppers, jicama, tomatoes, etc. There are also "extras" which you can have limited servings of like sugar-free gelatin, syrup, hard candy, etc. I was happy to find herbs, salt-free seasonings, lemon and lime juice listed as "unlimited extras", as I often cook with them. I was surprised to see how much I have to eat, my problem has always been eating bad things, not eating in excess. See the picture to the right, it is a "sample" of a day's food while on NutriSystem (including grocery add-ins).

While lurking around the NutriSystem forums, I have found many of those creative people post some great recipes, many including the NutriSystem entrees. I honestly can't wait to try some of these out! Check out my entire NutriSystem Journey and photos on Flickr!

Review - Contigo AutoSeal Water Bottle

Contigo Bottle
How many innovative water bottles have you seen lately? I've seen quite a bit, but one that has the ability to auto-seal itself to prevent spills is a first for me. Contigo has many innovative products, including, but no limited to, auto-seal kid's food jars and insulated travel mugs. I was sent the Contigo Autoseal Water Bottle to review. My Contigo water bottle has a capacity of 24oz. and Contigo's autoseal technology. Autoseal technology automatically seals between sips, making the bottle great for one-handed use, and spill-proof. It also comes with a carabiner clip which allows you to clip it on your purse or gym bag.

Contigo Auto Seal
I have taken the bottle with me for two weeks on my daily run with the dogs. Filled with flavored water, the bottle is heavy so I can't clip it on to my shorts. However, it does have a handle/loop where I can comfortably drink and hold it in one hand, and have the dogs on the other hand. The auto-seal technology does add a bit of weight to the bottle, but no so much where it get unbearable to hold for a long time.

The Contigo Autoseal Water Bottle comes in a variety of colors, is BPA-free and retails for $9.99 (24 fl. oz.) and $11.99 (32 fl. oz.). A huge thanks to Contigo for allowing me to review their great product! I highly recommend it to those who, like myself, run with their dogs on a leash, it provides easy one-handed access to your water :)

Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for this post, however I did receive the product in question, from the company or their representing  PR company,  free of charge in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own and I have provided a fair and honest review. I received no other compensation for my review nor was I under any obligation to give a positive review.

My Nutrisystem Journey Begins Soon!

I've never been one to order diet pills, buy the useless looking (and over priced) exercise equipment on infomercials or even bothered to start a diet. I was very thin when I was younger, didn't eat meat or any type of junk food. I think I started gaining weight at the end of Elementary school, little by little. I was very shy back then and very uncomfortable about my weight. In both Middle and High School things were tougher, you're under a microscope and kids don't think much before bullying their peers. Thankfully, I never encountered those kids and the weight seemed to only affect me and how I thought about myself. Fast forward 5 years and I'm a different person. I no longer sit in class worrying what each and every person is thinking of me being overweight, because none of them really care lol.

I am very motivated to get things done but for some reason have had no desire to lose weight, partially because I'm embarrassed to, If that makes any sense at all. Without trying I easily lose 10lb. in a week, but I only do it to "test" myself.  I want a change this year, something grand. I've decided to start my 1st (and hopefully only) diet. I will be blogging about my success (because there is no way I won't have it) while on Nutrisystem. Thanks to the great Nutrisystem Nation Blogger program, I will be able to do this. I have already placed my 1st order and am super exited to receive it!

I have slowly been familiarizing myself with the Nutrisystem website and have lurked around some of the forums. I spent a good while on the "before and after" picture thread and seen other people's success while on NutriSystem and saw nothing but positive encouraging replies from other members. Nutrisystem's support system and community seem to be very helpful. My shipment is set to come today and I will start next Monday so I can weigh in on the 1st of the week! I will blog about the food and system later this week, so keep an eye out!

Review - Logitech Ultimate Ears 100 In-Earphones

Logitech Ultimate Ears
"Whether your MP3 player is filled with electro beats or urban funk, the Ultimate Ears 100 Earphones allow listeners to express their personal music preferences. And, because these earphones are tuned by the same engineers who tune stage earphones for 75% of the world’s top touring artists, you know you’re getting superior acoustics. "
I recently was sent a pair of Logitech Ultimate Ears 100 earphones to review. These are in-ear earphones, which I find are great because regular earphones NEVER stay in my ears. They are available in different styles to match your personality and the colors are great! They are cheap, sturdy and loud.

I received the Logitech Ultimate Ears 100 in Blossom. These have a blossom designs and baby blue ear cushions, which make them "pop". I have been using them all around the house and when going out and have found that the cable does not easily get tangled. It is very elastic, but I prefer earphones with a fabric type cable, as they are easier to care for and you can tie them up wit ease.
Student Saving Bucks Logitech Ultimate Ears
The packaging that the earphones came in was absolutely adorable, reminded me of a long chocolate candy bar. The earphones came with 4 sets of ear cushions in sizes XXS, XS, S, M to fit your ears. Its great to have the extra ear cushions, as not all earphones come with the right size to fit inside your ear. I had to customize mine because I have a Tragus Ear Piercing on my left ear (see picture above) that makes it hard for earphones to stay put inside. I find them very comfortable with the XXS in the left and XS in my right ear.

I tested and compared these to my Skull Candy Tokidoki in-earphones and found the Ultimate Ears has better ear cushions and noise isolation than my Skull Candy in-earphones. The volume was the same but the bass was clearly more rich on the Ultimate Ears. They are very comfortable and at $19.99 are a steal! A huge thanks to Logitech for the opportunity to review these earphones, I love them!
