Are you a College Student on a budget? Well, if so, Tassimo is your answer. No, I kid, that sounds like an infomercial, lol. I have seen Tassimo reviews ALL over the internet and blogosphere and was aware of other single-serve brewer systems on the market. I have never owned one but had a drip-coffee maker that was nearing its end, or at least I think it was. I have to admit that I love coffee but am not much of a coffee maker, that whole water to coffee ground ratio was never perfected, might be because of my lack of skills in math.
It has been about 4-5 months since I cut off my daily Starbucks and other expensive coffee-house drinks. So, what better time than now to receive the Tassimo T-20 Single-Brew System by Bosch to review? Along with the attractive T-20 brewer I received a package of Starbuck's Latte (16 T-Disks), Seattle's Best Henry's Blend Coffee (16 T-Disks), and Milka's Hot Chocolate (16 T-Disks). Both the hot chocolate and Starbuck's Latte were 8+8, meaning they had 8 milk cups and 8 Hot Chocolate and Starbucks Expresso T-Disks, respectively.
I have to admit, I was not expecting it to be as small as it is (Width: 7.88" ; Height: 11" ; Depth: 11.75"). I was expecting it to take up a huge chunk of my kitchen counter, but it doesn't. Its nice and compact. The Tassimo T-20 is very user friendly, I love that it only has an on/off switch and the brew button. I'm amazed at how well and fast is brews! I even got the Gevalia Expresso and made some Frappuchino-type drinks with chocolate syrup, cool whip and ice and sugar (splenda).
•Makes drinks in about 1 minute
Includes an exclusive flow–through water heater for faster, quieter brewing
•Space saving design ideal for apartments, dorm rooms and countertops
•Smart bar code technology allows the brewer to adjust each beverage with the proper temperature pressure and amount of water
•5.6 lbs.
•1.5 Liter water tank
I went through a package of Starbucks Latte already, all that reviewing coffee made me crave more, lol. Whats great is that after you buy your Tassimo, you simply register you machine and get sent (2) FREE packages of T-Disks. I haven't had the Tassimo for long but you don't have to in order to appreciate it :) The Tassimo T-20 by Bosch retails for $129.99.The many varieties of T-Disks sell for as low as $4.49 and are available online direct from Tassimo.com, on Amazon or even stores like Target and Bed Bath & Beyond.
Pros and Cons - there are many positive aspects that come with this machine, some being its small size, the time it takes to prepare just about any coffee-house type drink, being able to customize your drinks to your liking, the cost of T-Disks as oppose to drinks from coffee shops, making my house smell like coffee and just being easy and convenience overall. The few cons I have experienced is definitely the noise (6 out of 10) and that is about if for the machine itself. One definite negative thing that I think will hold a lot of people back from purchasing a Tassimo brewer is the lack of an empty reusable T-cup (similar to Kreurig's reusable K-cup).
