GIVEAWAY - Thai Kitchen & La Tortilla Factory

Thai Kitchen Products
I'm a huge fan of Asian foods, let it be Thai, Chinese, Cambodian, etc. I think my favorite Asian (-American) dish is orange chicken and others with sweet & sour or hot and spicy sauces drizzled on top. Its no surprise, I love my sauce so getting the chance to review Thai Kitchen's line of all-purpose dipping sauces was exiting! I received Pineapple & Chili, Thai Chili & Ginger and Spicy Thai Mango. These sauces are all-purpose and dipping sauces that go GREAT with chicken! We make some homemade baked crispy chicken strips that went great with the Spicy Thai Mango sauce, it was a great balance of sweet and spicy. The Pineapple & Chili was phenomenal with a beef stir fry I made. The Chili & Ginger sauce was the odd ball out, I'm not sure what it was that made me dislike it. The ginger might be to blame, I'm not a huge fan of ginger, but the spice in the sauce was great. Thai food is known for their spicy and sweet foods, and these sauces do it justice. Thai Kitchen products include an array of rice noodles, take-out meals, canned soups and more!

Logo La Tortilla Factory
La Tortilla Factory was a brand I had never heard about previously, but am happy I got the opportunity to try! I received the Hand Made Style Corn Tortillas and the Smart & Delicious 100 Calorie 100% Whole Wheat Tortillas to review. I must say, the 100 calorie tortillas are huge, and great with 8g of fiber each. I regularly buy flour tortillas, smaller in size, that are much higher in calories so I'm glad I was introduced to the Smart & Delicious tortillas. I'm very bland when it comes to tortillas, they are not a big staple in our homeland's cuisine whatsoever. I usually just use them to make a quick quesadilla with pepperjack and/or cheese and chicken. This time around, i made my usual "breakfast burrito" with 1 egg, 1 Oscar Mayer wiener, fat free Kraft American cheese, light sour cream and hot sauce. With all the ingredients ready to go inside, I could of doubled the ingredients and still have a lot of room in there. They really are big. The tortilla itself heats up nice and soft and doesn't have a strong flavor.

I have never seen any sweet recipes use tortillas, but I imagine since the 100 calorie tortillas don't have a strong taste, it might make sense. The Hand Made Style Corn Tortillas were also good, these did taste like a good corn tortilla you would get at a mom and pop type restaurant. Its great by itself accompanied by black beans and rice. Overall, I enjoyed the products I got the opportunity to review. A huge thanks to Thai Kitchen and La Tortilla Factory for the opportunity to try their products. I'm so glad I get to share with one lucky reader too! :)

FREE Dessert @ Pollo Campero!

Pollo Campero

If you have a Pollo Campero restaurant near you, make sure you sign up for their eClub to receive special promotions and news! I signed up yesterday (after buying the $10 for $20 groupon deal for Pollo Campero) and received a coupon for a FREE Dessert at Pollo Campero, no purchase necessary. I know they sell Flan and Tres Leches cake, which both are very popular in the Latino community, the latter is even thought to originate from my parents homeland! How cool right?

Pollo Campero is known for their delicious fried chicken, but they also sell grilled chicken, burritos, yucca fries (highly recommended), desserts and more! Im glad I bought the groupon deal, I got to treat my family to a great dinner for cheap! Pollo Campero originates from Guatemala and are found all throughout Latin America, Asia and the U.S. They rival the national fried chicken chain in my parents homeland, but are number 2! However, we live in L.A. so here they can be number 1, Ahead on KFC in my opinion! I rarely get to eat there but do highly recommend you guys try it out if you have one near you!

GIVEAWAY - Polaner's Sugar-Free Preserves w/ Fiber

Not too long ago I got the chance to better my life by eating better, and have been doing great so far. Thanks to that opportunity, I have been seeking products that are healthier for me and provide nutritional value. I don't know about many people, but if I don't have a good breakfast in the morning, I tend to feel unsatisfied. This leads to overeating later on or not choosing the best of things to eat. I love breakfast, and toasting up a piece of bread adding some butter, fruit preserves or jelly is what I look forward to daily! A tablespoon of apricot preserves is just not enough for my toast, but at 40 calories each tbs., I just let it be. Its no longer a problem hanks to the wonderful people over at Polaner. I was sent four jars of the Polaner's Sugar-Free Fruit Preserves with Fiber. They are only 10 calories, come in many varieties AND are loaded with 3g of fiber per tablespoon. Better yet, they are sweetened with Splenda and contain NO high fructose corn syrup!

Strawberry Sugar-Free Preserves w/ Fiber - Strawberries are not a favorite fruit of mine (shock!) but do like them in other forms. Texture for the strawberry preserves was a little off, i'd prefer big chunks, but it tasted great. Went well with English muffins and heated up on my Nutrisystem pound cake.
Seedless Raspberry Sugar-Free Preserves w/ Fiber - My favorite of the bunch. The acidity is great, taste is wonderful is very versatile. When I find out how to  make a healthier cheesecake version I will make it with this Raspberry preserve.
Seedless Blackberry Sugar-Free Preserves w/ Fiber - My other favorite, just as the raspberry, this preserve has great acidity that makes is versatile. Goes best on pancakes and french toast.
Apricot Sugar-Free Preserves w/ Fiber - I have to mention, Apricot Preserves are my absolute favorite. However, the flavor was my least favorite of the bunch. The texture was rich, compared to my usual brands, but the taste was bland. I'm use to it having some acidity but it was missing here.

I can't wait to finish off these jars I have so I can buy some of the other varieties. I am especially looking forward to the orange preserves. Polaner products include All Fruit, Fancy Fruit and Sugar-Free fruit, all with added fiber. As well as varies spices, chopped, crushed and large cut. A huge thanks to Polaner for the opportunity to review their Sugar-Free preserves. While one didn't quite blend well with my taste buds, I can't wait to try other varieties. Want to try Polaner's preserves for yourself? Head on over to Polaner.com for a $1 Off Polaners Preserves coupon!

My Little Men! My Loves!

Remember when I posted about our dog being stolen last march? And how we got a new puppy? And how AVID found out stolen dog a few weeks later? I hope so :)  When I got Spock, my black & white Siberian Husky boy with piercing blue eyes, he was only 4 weeks old. Now, Spock is huge! He is only 5 months old and has grown so much! He is almost bigger than my other furry boy seen in the picture above, and he is already 3 y/o.

Its amazing how fast they grow and how they develop their personalities. He is certainly a leader, loves people and kids especially. His hobbies include his stuffed squeaky toy we bought him when he came home, howling with the police and ambulance sirens and picking weeds from the back yard (which you can see is all dirt and rocks). I couldn't resist taking pictures of them yesterday, I was outside all afternoon/night long. The heat was horrible, 97 degrees, no wind, humid air. I'm just thankful it cooled down when the sun went away to shine elsewhere in the world!

Want to compare his size? Look at his pictures here from his first day at our home :) Warning: Might be too cute to handle!

Those Revlon catalinas are still being spit out :) Gotta love the overage from those! Not all my Revlon files are pictured because I gave a couple from my stash and ones I bought to some friends. The Degree deal with BOGO coupon was a little bit of a hassle with my cashier but I let her know about my call to corporate and how they said it was permitted so she called someone over and it was overridden. Fantasy Home Makeover - Living Room Entertainment Center

What is one of the first things you do when you move to a new house? DREAM! Yes, simply dream of all the things you wish you could fill that house with. When we moved a little under 2 years ago to our new home, we came from an apartment and had very little things to fill it with. You can imagine, going from a small apartment to a 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom home which is almost 3,000 sq. ft. Until this day, our home is quite empty, especially the living room where we all hang out when we have family and friends over.

Our 42" HD TV sits alone in a cut out on an old rolling tv stand table that looks like it will collapse with the slightest movement. The cut-out for the "entertainment center" is pretty huge, we originally thought about getting built-ins installed but the $3,000+ price tag quickly had us turning the other way. So we recently looked online for oak TV Stands and came across the Coaster Oak TV Console available at Audio-Video-Furniture.com and fell in love with it. The huge console is gorgeous and looks like a fine piece of craftsmanship, it would certainly allow us to have a lot more storage than we currently have. The color of the oak console would match our huge in-wall pantry and kitchen cabinets. It would also fit the cut-out in the living room and provide storage and organization.

For frugal people, like myself, a simple upgrade to modern/classic-style corner TV stands would be more ideal. Given the very odd layout of our living room, we've experimented moving around our 2 couches and tv stand (yes, thats all the furniture in there). For example, the Powell Furniture Espresso Open Corner Media Stand would compliment the cabinets already in our home and the simplicity of the living room in its current state. The prices are more within our range and the variety of styles is great.

Whether you're looking to re-do your space or just moved in and have a clean-slate to work with, we all dream! TV Stands are a great addiction to any home make-over project you have going on. With us, its a necessity to include TV stands with some sort of storage space or multiple shelves for our cable box, dvd player and any DVDs we may have laying around. :)

My Nutrisystem Weekly Weigh-In (Week #7)

This is my 7th week on the Nutrisystem program. I was so exited last week for being so close to hitting 20lbs in 7 weeks. Did I accomplish it? Keep reading, lol. Being as exited as I was I thought I'd try some new exercises and did some lunges. Big mistake, I was sore for over 2 days to the point where it hurt to walk. I couldn't get any exercise in for those 2 days and couldn't hit my 3,500 calorie burn. I tried to make up for it by eating better, no flavor packets in my water, no extras (sour cream, etc.) and think I did well.

I've mentioned, the Nutrisystem program is getting easier and easier to stay on. I always feel content, when I'm hungry (which is only when I don't have a filling breakfast) I just grab some grapes or frozen pineapples. I did try a new meal this week, the pasta with beef lunch entrée, I can't say I'm too crazy about it. Exercise is going well. I get my exercise on the EA Sports Active 2 for XBOX 360. I posted my review on this great game recently so check it out :). All this takes motivation. There are many ways of getting that, family, friends, goals, etc. To further help my motivation, I am proud to say that this week I have earned Commitment the Nutribear, which will join his buddy, Pound, soon enough. :) I've never been more exited to receive a little bear in my life.

This weeks weight-loss was very good, I was expecting less.  I can't wait to keep pushing myself and lose more weight. I have now made a personal goal to lose a minimum of 10lbs. a month over the next 3 months I have left. :) Don't forget to Check out my entire Nutrisystem Journey, my photos on Flickr or my videos on YouTube! Now its time, my weight loss for the 5th week on Nutrisystem:

Weight Loss:
-6.2 lbs. [5/1/11]
-3.1 lbs. [5/8/11]
-2.6 lbs. [5/15/11]
-1.8 lbs. [5/22/11]
-2.5 lbs. [5/29/11]
-2.6 lbs. [6/5/11]
-2.3 lbs. [6/12/11]
Total: 21.2 lbs.
