Review - Power Squid Surge3000 Calamari Edition

PowerSquid is a familiar name when you think of surge-protectors. I remember looking to buy a surge protector a couple years ago and seeing all these very generic looking ones that looked like it would create more cable craziness. Many of my devices are brick connections which take up to two spaces on a traditional surge-protector, which look like regular power strips. This is a problem that i will NEVER have with my PowerSquid :)

PowerSquid was very generous to allow me to review one of their products. I was sent the PowerSquid Surge3000, Calamari Edition. This surge-protector has a retail price of $79.95, and it is very well worth it. It is not an average surge-protector, unlike the traditional ones that look like long blocks, this one has a shape of a squid, with the legs actually being flexible outlets.

The PowerSquid has 3240 joules w/ Ultra-MOV techonology. For those who don't quite know what that means, I'll explain little, I understand not too many people are geeky like me, lol. A joule is a measurement of energy, the higher the joule measurement, the better, as this is the amount of energy absortion a surge protector can take before it fails. This particular model has an red indicator light which will be on if it can still protect your items. It has 8 flexible outlets, 2 of which have blue LEDs. This makes it easy to spot in the dark.

I can not stress how important it is to have a surge-protector. We experience little power surges very often, and our expensive electronics are left vulnerable. Over time, or just on one occasion, it can ruin your electronics and cause them to no longer work. For example, you may be working on an important paper on your computer and all of a sudden you experience a little power surge that turns it off. Now, your information is lost, this is where surge-protectors protect your electronics. Any college student will tell you they have experienced this or at least know someone who has. Another great thing about the PowerSquid Surge3000 is that is doesn't only protect your electronics. It includes a coaxial cable and integral phone line splitter to protect your phone line, DSL and cable. Also included is a $500,000 Limited Connected Equipment Warranty. So, if for any reason the PowerSquid Surge3000 doesn't protect your T.V., they will replace it.

Overall, I'm very impressed with how sturdy this product is. It doesn't feel like cheap plastic just put together, as previous non-PowerSquid surge protectors I've had. I feel very confident that when we have a power surge, my electronics will be well protected. Thanks PowerSquid for the opportunity to review your wonderful product.
